Social Media Mastery - Why do you need a content calendar? - Episode 9

I can’t believe we’ve made it this far!

Nine episodes in, and each week, this newsletter keeps growing - which is crazy to think about. The past seven days have been really fun. I’ve seen another jump in my views, met some brilliant creators, and even started working on a few exciting new projects (which I’ll reveal soon 👀).

But today, I want to talk about something that’s made the biggest difference to my own results - and could easily transform yours too.

Why You Must Create a Personalised Content Calendar

If there’s one secret behind my consistency, it’s this: I plan everything.

I’ve got set times in my week for collecting ideas, creating content, and posting it. Nothing happens by chance, and that’s exactly why I never miss a day.

You see, most people think success on social media comes from creativity or luck. But the truth? It comes from structure.

Without a plan, you’ll waste time deciding what to post, overthink what’s “good enough,” and eventually stop altogether. But with a personalised content calendar, every single day has purpose.

You’ll know what to post, when to post, and why you’re posting it. And that’s the difference between feeling overwhelmed, and feeling in control.

Why a Content Calendar Changes Everything

For most people, a daily diary or content calendar isn’t just a productivity tool — it’s the foundation of long-term consistency.

There’s one thing in life you can never get back: time.

Yet so many creators, entrepreneurs, and brands waste hours scrolling, brainstorming, or second-guessing themselves, while others are quietly building their audience day after day.

I realised the importance of this after reading The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson — one of those rare books that completely changes how you think about progress.

Olson explains that to outperform everyone else, you don’t need to do massive things. You just need to do a little more than the next person, every single day.

Those small daily actions compound.
Weeks turn into months, and before you know it, you’ve built something incredible.

That’s exactly how social media works. Every post you create, every comment you reply to, every story you share, they all add up. Over time, those “tiny steps” create huge momentum.

The Slight Edge in Action

So why am I telling you this?

Because I believe your content calendar is your version of The Slight Edge.

Most people or businesses post when they “get around to it.” They have no plan, no schedule, and no consistency. But if you’re the one who sets a plan, sticks to it, and compounds that effort over time, you’ll be miles ahead before you even realise it.

That’s how I grew my pages. That’s how PintSizedHumour reaches over 100 million people every month. Not because of luck, not because of fancy tools — but because we kept showing up.

The Practical Bit

Creating your own content calendar doesn’t need to be complicated.
Here’s how to start:

  1. Pick your posting days. Choose how often you want to show up — even if it’s just 3 times a week.

  2. Batch your ideas. Spend one hour collecting 10–15 ideas at once so you’re never stuck.

  3. Plan your categories. Think of 3–4 content themes you rotate between — for example: educational, personal, behind-the-scenes, and promotional.

  4. Set reminders. Use your phone, Google Calendar, or Notion to keep track.

  5. Review weekly. Spend 10 minutes each week looking at what worked and adjusting for the next.

That’s it. Simple, consistent, and sustainable.

A Quick Plug (But a Helpful One)

Yes — PintSizedHumour can create a full content calendar for you.

In fact, it’s included in our Social Media Support Package, which is by far the most popular product on our website. It’s built for business owners who want structure, consistency, and accountability — without all the stress of figuring it out alone.

But truthfully? If you’re reading this newsletter, I know you’ve got what it takes to smash social media on your own too.

You just need a system, and the discipline to stick to it.

Final Thoughts

Create your calendar. Stick to it. Don’t let yourself slip.

Remember: every post compounds. Every effort counts. Show up with purpose, even on the days you don’t feel like it.

Do that, and you’ll be shocked at where you are in six months.

You don’t need to be perfect — you just need to be consistent.

That’s how you build your Slight Edge.

Make sure to subscribe, and remember - "Consistency compounds. Show up daily, and the small wins will stack into something unstoppable."
