Quality vs Quantity: What Should Businesses Focus On? - Episode 37
Welcome back to another edition of Social Media Mastery!
Last week, we spoke about the importance of creating AI generated content.
Today’s topic is one I absolutely love, because it applies to almost every business owner and content creator out there:
Should businesses focus on quality or quantity when creating social media content?
I love this question.
Not because there’s a clear right or wrong answer - there isn’t - but because it’s something every business needs to decide before they begin creating content. Which most don’t!
Why Do Businesses Need to Create Content?
Very simply: the more eyeballs, the better.
No business has ever succeeded by getting less attention.
In fact, attention has always been the key to growth.
Decades ago, that attention came from radio and TV ads.
Then, being at the top of Google search results was the dream.
In 2025, social media is the ultimate way to get your brand seen, and to position yourself as an industry leader.
A clear example of this is the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election.
During the campaign, Donald Trump dominated social media attention, appearing on long form podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience, where he spoke for hours in an unfiltered, authentic way that resonated with millions.
By contrast, Kamala Harris produced far less social content, much of it feeling overly polished and controlled.
Regardless of your politics, this demonstrates a simple truth: social media presence wins attention - and attention drives outcomes.
So… Quality or Quantity?
As mentioned earlier, this depends on your business.
If you’re a premium brand, a luxury watch company, a high-end restaurant, a law firm, focus on quality. Every post represents your reputation.
But if your brand is fun, fast-moving, or low-cost, think snack brands, streetwear, or affordable beauty products, quantity can win. More content means more opportunities to connect, test, and go viral.
However, what if you did something CRAZY and combined the two?
The truth is, social media doesn’t punish you for posting more than your competitors - it rewards you.
And recent data (especially from TikTok and Instagram Reels) shows that high-quality, consistent output performs best over time.
Conclusion
Create content that matches the ambition and positioning of your brand.
Better visuals and clearer storytelling build trust and authority, and if you have the budget, it’s worth investing in production quality.
But don’t overthink it. Consistency beats perfection.
Aim to produce as much content as you can sustainably, and do it for a long enough period to let the results compound.
Because on social media, those who create more, and keep creating, are always the ones who win.
