Social Media Mastery - How often should I post on Social Media? - Episode 19
Episode 19. Welcome to July!
As we are now somehow into the second half of 2025, I firstly wanted to say, I hope you are well! - but secondly I wanted to ask:
How often are you currently posting on your social media pages?
The reason I say this is because this year I have chatted to a lot of business owners, and they all tell me their reasons for the amount of content they are currently putting out.
Some say “I have heard it can negatively affect my algorithm if I put out too much content!”, while others say “I don’t see any point in posting anymore than I already am!”
Let me start with the first point - It is a load of bs when people mention about how social media platforms will negatively impact you if you post too much content. People hear this from someone, and then because it is the path with the least resistance, aka, if I believe this then I can do less work, they choose to believe it.
I can tell you first hand that the biggest and best social media agencies and businesses are posting hundreds of pieces of content every single day.
Let’s use a business owner I spoke to recently as an example. They post around 3 times a week, and post that content on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. So in total that is 9 times someone could see your content on social media. Then let’s take a business I spoke to recently, who own around 10 pages. On each of these pages they post a minimum of 24 pieces of content per day, and not only that, the content is different on each different social media platform you go onto. They do this on around 7 different platforms, meaning every single day, you could potentially see their content 1,680 times across social media. This means every single day, you have a 186x chance of seeing that companies content, over that small business owners, and that is saying the post the exact same content - which they do not, as this big business pumps millions into its content every single year.
Social media is very binary in the sense of - you tend to get out what you put in - whether that is money, time or expertise. So for a small business to say we don’t see the purpose to posting more content than we already are, I do have to question the logic.
However, it is worth pointing out that I completely understand that in a small business, you may have other prioritise, and time is very finite. You cannot do more of everything, as you do only have limited resources.
My only question would be - are you confident that what you are putting your time and money into, is more valuable than creating organic social media content?
So in conclusion, I would suggest posting as much content as you possibly can. I would even go as far as saying Quantity < Quantity.
