How to get your first 1 Million Views - Episode 44
Welcome back to SMM. I hope your 2026 has been as action-packed as mine has been over these first few weeks.
Let’s fly straight into today’s topic:
How to achieve your first one million views on Social Media!
Now this is tasty!
Before I explain how you can achieve your first million views, let me quickly explain why I’m qualified to talk about this.
My dream was always to work in content.
In 2023, I received 10,000 views
In 2024, I received 50,000,000 views
In 2025, I received over 500,000,000 views
That’s across a mix of my own content and my clients’ content.
So, enough about me - let’s break down exactly how you can reach your first one million views.
Platform
The first step is choosing a platform - and this should be based entirely on your goals and strengths.
If you want to create text-based content, platforms like LinkedIn or X make sense.
If short-form video excites you, TikTok or YouTube Shorts are great options.
If you want a mix of both, Instagram or Facebook can work extremely well.
The key thing to understand is this:
You can achieve one million views on any platform.
The platform isn’t the deciding factor - your execution is.
Content
This is where most people go wrong.
Before you post anything, you need to be crystal clear on who you’re speaking to and why you’re speaking to them.
If you’re a business owner, defining your dream client is essential. Even if you’re not running a business, you should still have a clear audience profile in mind.
Next, research creators who have already grown on the platform you want to succeed on - but here’s the important part:
Don’t study their content now.
Study their content from when they were at your level.
When analysing their early content, focus on three things:
The hook – how they grab attention
The story arc – how they keep people watching
The call to action – what they ask viewers to do next
If you learn how to maximise these three levers consistently, the views will come.
Finally, don’t copy creators directly. Instead, look at what formats, concepts, and structures are working, even in completely different niches, and adapt them to your own voice.
Tech
I’ve intentionally put this section after content, because the technology you use is far less important than people think.
If you own a smartphone, the camera quality is already good enough to hit one million views.
That said, I would strongly recommend investing in a cheap microphone. Audio is one of the most important elements in any form of media, and poor sound will kill retention faster than poor visuals.
Optional extras include a ring light and a simple phone tripod. Anything beyond that is unnecessary when you’re starting out.
I personally use Premiere Pro to edit my videos, but there are plenty of free editing tools that are more than capable of helping you reach one million views.
Consistency
If you want to reach one million views faster, being analytical and data-driven will help - reviewing retention, watch time, and engagement to refine your content.
But above everything else, the most important trait is consistency.
Set a non-negotiable time in your diary to post every single day.
Weekends included, if possible.
If posting daily feels easy, increase it to two posts per day. Then continue increasing volume until you find your optimal level.
Then do one thing:
Keep going until you hit one million views.
Conclusion
Content takes time to learn. It takes time to find your voice. And it takes time to understand what resonates with your audience.
But if you stick with it long enough, you will hit goals that right now might feel unrealistic.
This month alone, I’ve had multiple videos reach over one million views.
Once you understand the process, the game you’re playing suddenly becomes a lot easier.
