How many times should I post on social media? - Episode 40
Hi again, and welcome back to Social Media Mastery!
The newsletter designed to make sure you always know what to do the next time you sit down to create content.
Today, we’re answering one of the most talked-about questions in the entire social media world:
How many times should I post on social media to gain followers?
Before we dive in, I want to make something very clear:
There is so much misleading advice online about posting frequency. People say whatever makes their audience feel comfortable - not what actually produces results.
You’re not here for comfort. You’re here for truth.
Let me start with a real example that shows what growth looks like at the highest level.
Instant Bollywood: 35 Million Followers & 9.2 Billion Monthly Views
Instant Bollywood is one of the biggest entertainment accounts in the world.
They’ve grown to over 35 million Instagram followers, pulling in a reported 9.2 billion views every single month.
Whenever I tell people this story, I always ask:
How many posts do you think they publish every single day?
Most guess somewhere between 10–20.
The real answer?
Over 100 posts… every day.
And these aren’t low-effort posts either - they are edited, produced, approved and uploaded with speed and consistency.
This is what “playing at scale” looks like.
So with that context… what should you do?
So, how much should YOU post?
Before anything else, let’s clarify what I mean by “posting”.
I’m talking specifically about short-form content:
TikToks
Instagram Reels
YouTube Shorts
Facebook Reels
LinkedIn short-form videos
Even text or image posts on platforms like LinkedIn & Facebook
Short form is where the fastest growth happens.
Social media platforms want one thing above everything else:
they want you to keep people on their platform for as long as possible.
So if you post more content, they’re not going to punish you — they’re going to reward you. More content = more reach, more impressions, more opportunities.
And that brings us to the real answer…
The honest posting frequency:
You should post the maximum amount of content you can while still staying consistent and maintaining quality.
That’s the full, unfiltered truth.
For me personally?
Across my pages, my podcast, and my clients’ pages, I post between 20 and 50 times per day.
It sounds insane - but so did “posting daily” ten years ago.
As the internet evolves, output levels evolve with it.
And this level of output is why I average 100 million views per month across my pages.
Do you need to post 20–50 times per day?
No - unless you want extreme growth.
But let me give you a more realistic benchmark:
If your goal is simply to grow a few thousand followers and build a real presence online, posting once a day for six months will take you further than 95% of businesses ever go.
Most people won’t even stay consistent for two weeks.
If you can stick to one piece of content a day, for 180 days straight, your account will grow - it’s genuinely that simple.
Make sure to subscribe, and remember - “Small actions repeated daily will outwork big actions done sometimes.”
